Term 4 Week 2
Welcome back to term 4. I hope everyone managed to have some family time over the term break. My pilgrimage to Israel was an inspiring experience as I traveled through Jordan and Israel with 18 other Principals from the North West zone. It was a very spiritual experience, especially as we moved through Tiberias and Capernaum where Jesus performed some of his ministry and many miracles. Visiting the Sea of Galilee was a pivotal moment as I walked in wonder and awe on the hills and paths that Jesus would have walked. I didn’t quite walk on water but managed to wade through and swim in the sea of Galilee. A truly humbling experience! We now pray for the conflict in Israel and for all the innocent people now facing such hardship.
This afternoon we were praying hard for the weather to clear. With lightning and torrential rain in the morning, we were worried about the fun run going ahead. Our prayers were answered when the rain stopped and the sun shone for the children to participate in the colour fun run. It was a much anticipated day with much talk on which shirt to wear and what the day would hold. It was certainly a fun time with children squealing with laughter as they were squirted with different colours. We were truly blessed with the weather as just on home time the winds picked up and the rain arrived again! Thankfully we were within that window of good weather. It was a memorable way to start the term! The funds raised this year will contribute to landscaping the area behind the renovated classrooms. Drawings are currently being created as we imagine what the area could look like. Thank you to Claire for organising the event. Thank you to all the parent helpers today and everyone who came along to support the children.
Moving into the renovated classrooms is tantalisingly close. We had hoped to be in before the start of term and this was planned for. Unfortunately it’s the small details that have held us up and obtaining a final approval from the building surveyor that we are waiting on. It’s soon!
Over the holidays we had some major maintenance completed in the school yard. The retaining walls have been in need of replacing as they began to shift and show signs of rot. This large area has been replaced with concrete sleepers and iron girders. It won’t be moving for a long time to come. After applying for a ‘Local Schools Grant’ through the State Government earlier in the year, we have been fortunate enough to receive this. This grant was specifically for outdoor spaces. New seating will be placed on the top oval with some seating on the asphalt area. The concrete pads have been put into place as we wait for the manufacturer to complete the seats.
Last Friday the Parents Auxiliary met to plan the events for term 4. The colour run if their first event with lunch orders and a carols BBQ and raffle on the agenda. Be sure to read the Parent Page in the newsletter and refer to the term calendar for reminders.
